Wotans Throne is a prominent formation seen from Cape Royal along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This image from the August Monsoon season was taken as a storm system passed; in its wake were swirling clouds and later a lightning storm that lit up the entire rim. Here we see the clouds forming, lifting, as the late sun attempts to light up the canyon. Post processing adjustments included the blue/green balance and "softening" to slightly to settle the detail in the foreground.
