West Virginia Red Maple

On a hike along the upper slopes of New River Gorge overlooking Thurmond, I found this Red Maple in all colors of Yellow, Gold, and Red.

Before my photo travels, I often study the areas using Google Earth. For a trip along the New River, an overlook near Minden caught my interest. There appeared to be view area, but I could not confirm from photos. Once in the area, I drove the length of the road finding a simple gate to a short road. I did learn from a local home owner that the property was owned by a local expedition company. Several images were taken early and late in my trip. But it was this tree, next to the access road - a Red Maple in all colors of Yellow, Gold, and Red - that was the star of the trip.
